Historic buildings - Prambanan

This is the temple with graceful shape and is known as one of Indonesia's cultural icons. Prambanan is the largest Hindu temple in Southeast Asia.
Located not far from Borobudur temple, the proximity of you about the harmony between Buddhists and Hindus on the island of Java, not only in the past but also the present.


The temple, which the local community is known by the name Jonggrang, has a legend. That long ago there was a young man who was very powerful and strong who wanted to marry a beautiful princess named Roro Jonggrang. The king who is also the father of the Princess had forced her to marry Bandung Bondowoso, Roro Jonggrang not love him but neither could resist. After a lengthy considerations, he finally gave one condition to Bondowoso to build 1000 temples and promised to marry him if that requirement can be completed before dawn.

Roro Jonggrang requested that the work is completed before the rooster crowed that he thought of as something impossible. But Bondowoso that magic can complete almost 999 temples with the help of the genie and strength. Roro Jonggrang also asked the women in the village to start hitting rice to the chicken woke up and began to crow. Bondowoso very disappointed with the treatment Jonggrang, then change Jonggrang into rock now known as the Prambanan temple, while the surrounding temples called Sewu or the Thousand temples.

Prambanan temple was built 9th century, dedicated to the god Shiva, the destroyer, and two in each side dedicated to the god Brahma, the creator god, and the god Vishnu, the preserver god. The highest temple 47 meters tall among the other temples in the vicinity.
Prambanan rediscovered by a Dutch citizen named CA Lons in 1733 after neglected for hundreds of years. This temple has undergone refurbishment and now Prambanan temple known as the most beautiful Hindu temple in Indonesia.
The beauty and complexity of Prambanan temple architecture as a building which is very charming menobatkannya as a world heritage site in 1991 by UNESCO.

Ramayana tells the story of Prince Rama and his wife Sita who was walking in the woods. Rama saw the golden deer in the woods and he intends to chase, but before that he made a circle around Sita. Rama told him not to go out of this circle to stay safe. However, the giant king, Ravana persuade Sita out of the circle, then kidnapped and brought into his palace Sinta of Lanka.

Rama grieving accompanied by the monkey king, Hanuman finally found Sita in Ravana's palace. Then Rama crush of Lanka and rescued Sita and returned to the arms of her beloved husband.
As long as you are here you should take as many photos as you want because of the beautiful scenery of the temple that stands firmly and ruins of temples. Admission ticket you purchase is valid for one full day, meaning that you can enter and exit at will Prambanan area. That is for the photographer, you can take photos at different times of the day, not interesting!
